Air suspension 'pops off' from strut |
|
Hi
Got a new front strut for my air suspension 2 months a go and encountered the air pipe popped off on the top when driving over a speed bump. Got it fixed but within a week it happened again whilst driving over a speedbump, all air leaks out and the car cannot be driven anymore.
Is this common? Fixable? Or is my mechanic a buffoon..? www.skienklinikk.no

Just make sure the air tube is pushed in the full distance at the connector on the strut, when the air bag pressurises, it should push the air tube back and lock it into position.
I replaced my front airbags, 12 months ago and had zero issues.

I changed out the fronts some time ago and got lazy on the left side. The old ring was compressed rather tightly and I just could not get it removed. I left it in place. Two months later it just popped out. I made sure it was seated back in properly but the next day it popped out again. I then removed the strut, soaped up the line and removed the old fitting and replaced it with the new one that came with the new strut that was still in my parts bin. No problems since.
Lesson learned for me. I try not to be lazy when repairing these things. If the manual says remove and discard, l try to buy a new one for reassembly.
Just my thoughts on it.
