D4 - Heated wheel experience, flappy paddles need enabling

Hi,
Just thought Id give a little feedback of my experience fitting a heated wheel to my D4 and a quick question re enabling the flappy paddles...

1. Bought a wheel/switches/paddles complete with airbag off ebay for about £250 - think it was a RRS 2011 wheel... Anywho, after finally managing to get the airbag off I checked and had the power wire in place but no heated clockspring... I popped down to the local LR dealership in Leeds, picked one up and came home / took off the wheel, replaced the clockspring, and hey presto everything worked first time.... Couldnt believe it as this never happens to me... I wasnt going to admit this but I put the wheel back on and airbag back on (old one not the one that came with teh wheel) and ready to drive and noticed I hadnt bolted the wheel back on!!! After another 40 mins spent trying to get the airbag off I maanged to bolt the wheel back on again!!!!

A couple of Quick question re the wheel:- I lined the wheel up with the marker but it drives to the left a lot more than it did... Should I just get all 4 wheels aliged using teh hunter system or similar?

The heated wheel works without anything being enabled but on my IID I have two options to enable the hetaed steering wheel - should I enable either of them? I dont seem to have any notification on the dash oard the heated wheel is on? (when i turn it on obviously)

2. Flappy paddles:- From anyone who has enabled this previously... Please could you advise... My reading up on this says I should do 2 things:-

a) IID > Service/test > TCM Transmission > Clear adaptation values.

b) Using the IID, flash the software... I can do a) above, but im not sure which menu to use to flash the software to the car (3.0 D4 2011)... Using the above explanation, can anyone tell me how to flash the software please? Ive updated my IID this morning to the latest version. Also, do i need the car running when i do it and is there anything else i need to do please?

Next up is installing the GSM switch to the webasto... But need to buy one first... Any reccomendations - I tried calling Ian today but think he is on his hols Smile

Many thanks to those who helped me via DM Smile

Thanks
Dan

With the heated wheel, the button lights up when you switch it on. Wink

To get the paddles working you need to buy the gearbox/enable flappy paddles update for iid from them, then reflash
