Low coolant level
My disco came from the big annual service two weeks ago. ( 2007 model and 236000km) Yesterday and as it was running good the sign of Low coolant level appeared. I checked and the level was low. ( I replaced the tunk last summer) I added coolant till the mark.( 1lt) Today and as the engine was cold I checked before turning on. The level was ok! After 3km again the sign of Low coolant!!
Went to the gas station and added 2lt as the engine was running.. The level perfect!!
After 100km the same again... The sign in the dashboard again appeared and the coolant very low. I added one more lt of fluid.
I can't see any leaks or marks of the red coolant fluid in my garage.
Any sugestions ???

If it isn't leaking out, it may well be leaking inside the engine? Not good - e.g. if a head gasket has gone and its leaking into a piston, you would normally see the water turn into either vapour out the exhaust or water coming out in the exhaust gasses? Any sign?

What did they do? Anything to do with the engine compartment? Every problem (5) I have had with my car this year has been 'introduced' by a workshop ... I.e. The car was fine until they Touched it.

Before you panic thinking its a head gasket or something, take it to a shop and have a pressure test done to see where the coolant is leaking from. It can also be leaking from a crack on the thermostat, or some hose, or something simple to repair.

If they change coolant as part of the service, it just may need bleeding. A simple check for gasket is to open radiator cap and see if there are any bubbles.

The radiator cap or the tunk? I saw a little milky sign in the oil...

See, no need to panic. These trucks are coming over 13 years now, being an 2005 I know mine is. So things will need to be replaced sooner then later.

Drex, Sorry about the late reply but you shouldn't replace this with plastic. Here is a link to the aluminium aftermarket version which i got for a fraction of the price shown- my Indy sourced it. - should see if you can find it elsewhere. Made by Axiom.
If anyone replaces using this part - the rubber water seal to the engine comes on the throat of the outlet - you have to remove it and put on the bottom to seal against the engine.
You were lucky to find this when you did because can destroy engines if not identified.
