Hello
I've a 2008 D3 (LR3 as we are in the US)
Just noticed it is now making a very, very slight whirring type noise from the steering when driving.
It occurs only at speed (I can't make the noise when stopped). When we are driving with the steering wheel facing forward it is not there. When we turn the wheel slightly off center (as in changing lanes) it is noticeable, but only barely. Whew alignment was performed a month ago but winces then we have been on holiday/vacation and done some very light off-roading (driving down unsealed dirt roads and very slowly along some rougher tracks).
There are no other knocks or bump or grinding noises etc. Power steering fluid is full but hasn't been changed for a while so it might be old?
We are a few thousand miles from home and I'm not particularly concerned but thought I might ask the question.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Peter
