Oui, if you look for my user name, I've posted some pictures about my split charge system. You are limited to a fairly small battery (Optima Yellow Top 55Ah) as it's quite a tight fit.

I'd see the little box (glow plug) near the ABS unit , but , I have a second one in my D4 , the biggest one ..Marco.

The glow plug control module I've used double sided tape to attach it to the inner wing. The other module is the transfer case control module (TCCM), this is actually attached to a plastic bracket which has a plastic cover over the top. If you look to the bulkhead end of the battery, you'll see a silver metal box, this is the ECU inside the black plastic cover.
If you get the harness that goes to both of the modules, you can remove some of the insulation tape and clips and then make the breakout for the two branches in a different place. There is lots of harness that you can get from this.
The Glow Plug module wiring is fed under the ABS modulator. There is a big connector that is clipped into the plastic bracket, this needs to be moved under the brake servo.
