D4 reverse camera, parts & install
Hi all, so sorry for going over old posts but I couldn't find a definitive ancwer with search....
I have a 2014 D4 with DVD,nav, but no reverse camera, can anyone tell me the exact parts I need and is there a idiots guide to installing. 2015MY discovery 4 se tech with factory black pack.

Rse, tv, electric memory seats, rear camera, heated steering wheel,
Headlight dip assist, remote FBH, led door light pack,easy lift kit,osram front fog/drl/active cornering lights. and whatever els I can find to do,

Hi dgardel, thanks very much, I would like to keep OE but if it's just as good quality non OE I could go that route. I will have look & read at info you provided and see if can get my head round it. 2015MY discovery 4 se tech with factory black pack.

It is all in the other thread but essentially you need:
A camera (either OE or £10-15 from eBay)
Tailgate wiring for power and video - either a genuine loom or make your own.
In car wiring for video - check your car as per other thread if you already have this in place, some do, some don't.
Behind dash wiring - if your car has the existing in car video cable, you need to connect from the end of this beside the gear lever to the back of the screen. If you don't have the in car video cable then simply continue the wire above all the way to the back of the screen
Enabling - need a site sponsor with an IID or similar (or buy one yourself) to activate the camera so that the car recognises the signal when you select reverse.

Dont be too concerned if it doesn't, Its pretty easy to run a cable under the floor up the side of the seats and then across behind the glovebox to the screen.

So had look over weekend to see if some of wiring was there,
Front under gear dial cover.
Green location in bottom pic,
Yellow is rear farka but can anyone tell me what red & green circled plugs are for.
I'm so dumb as I still don't understand exactly what I need to retro install reverse camera. 2015MY discovery 4 se tech with factory black pack.

The camera you have linked to - the picture looks like it could be made to fit the available camera slot however the instructions on down seem to suggest it replaces one of the rear numberplate lights. For £8 though, you could probably buy it and make it fit someway. The one I bought seemed to be designed to be mounted horizontally rather than vertically so I had to make a wedge frame for it to sit in to angle it and give me the view I wanted.
As to the photos, Im not really sure as I didn't go down the centre console route and I didn't have a signal cable at the back. The plug under the gear console might be the one for the cubby box fridge. The pic inside the boot - the green circle doesn't seem to contain anything. The plug in the red circle is (I think) the connector to go into the genuine camera loom if you decide to buy one. I just wired the camera back to the boot aux power socket on the left hand side with a 5A fuse. I then ran the signal cable behind the boot panel, and then under the sill trim panels between the seats and the door on the left hand side as looking from the boot to the front.
You will need to locate a site sponsor or else buy an IID tool to activate once fitted so that when you select reverse, the car knows to display the image on the screen.
The other camera thread is quite long but it does contain everything you need to know.

Hi swansty, sorry I didn't explain it properly, the green circle in second pic with red electrics plug is located behind the panel that is highlighted in green on bottom picture. Iv ordered the camera but not sure I'll use it, I think I'm just going to go OE and purchase as and when I come across the parts. Thanks again for your help I really appreciate it.

it records front and rear, and shows front and rear viewing at same time on main screen and when reverse is selected it has full screen in reverse camera mode so reversing grid lines and when select Drive it reverts bk to front & rear record. ah right, I see. Hmm no idea what that big red plus up in the headlining is for then. Im trying to recall if there is anything in the sharkfin antenna that it might relate to but I don't have one. Others on here may be able to identify it though. OE is pretty pricey but can see the attraction.
