Little bit more of a follow up. Disco faulted for me last night, and previously when its done this with me driving I havent had any fault messages on the dash, but this time I got park brake fault displayed. Im getting this fault logged for the park brake module:
• C1A55-64 (A8) Ignition switch input circuit - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure
Leads me back to my original thinking that the fault is originating from the park brake module
As tempting as they are you must resist the urge to use the fault codes to diagnose the underlying issue as they cannot be trusted. The patient is sick and incapable of diagnosing itself.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
Just as I mention that its only happening when the headlights are on, my wife rings me and says its happened today - at least that's one theory ruled out. Well at least after today I'll be on my days off work so I'll have some time for fault finding.

Bit peeved right now. Was digging around my above posted fault so I thought I'd force the park brake faults by pulling the fuses, which worked a charm and produced that fault code. Didnt produce all the rest of the faults however so its taken me back to a connector fault - but as its a fault thats triggering the park brake and canbus at the same time it has to be somewhere that is common between the two. So decided to pull the plug at the left rear wheel and give it a good clean out, but putting it back together I was a little heavy handed and managed to break all the retaining pins on the connector plug. So now I need to source a replacement plug, remove and replace all the pins from the old plug. Oh and that one plug renders the car undrivable. Going to take weeks to sort out at this rate........I kinda feel like burning it to the ground right now

If the plug will push together you could zip tie it as a temporary measure so you can use the vehicle. As we get older we get fragile.
The plug will push together ok, but without the use of the locking slide I can't push it in enough to overcome the seal and get the contacts to touch. Although I could try to use mechanical means and cable tie it in position...... Thanks for getting me thinking.
On a side note I sent the list of fault codes to gap diagnostics who suggested that it may be an issue with the instrument cluster due to the medium speed can bus fault code

I faintly remember there is loom to the cluster which is to short and giving problems.
Well thats interesting, anyone have any more comments on the possible short loom to the cluster?
Anyway I attempted to clamp the connector together and cable tie it, but the work area was just to fiddly for it to work effectively and I couldn't get it. I did however manage to move the locking slide to the other side of the connector, and as the locking slide holds onto 4 locking pins out of a total 6 that meant my broken connector still had two pins left. So its back together for the moment, I'll still get another plug to replace it so its held in properly. But at least now I can figure out how to de-pin a spare connector without the rush I had before.

thanks for that, very similar issues in that thread to what I'm getting. If I can get hold of a secondhand cluster then that might be the way to go once I change the brake light switch and if the fault still persists

Thanks Paul.

Had a quick phone call yesterday with one of the bigger land rover dismantlers in the country. They want my old cluster to clone to a replacement and want to charge $950 for it. I've since got all the info from gap as to how I update a replacement cluster so I sent them an email to see if they will supply a cluster cheaper. Been looking to see if theres any repair options here in Australia for my current cluster as that may be a cheaper option. Other option may be to order a new one from the UK (rimmer bros list one cheaper than what I can get one here)
replacement brake light switch arrived in the post today. So I'll be installing that when I get home from work - although I'm not real confident that its got anything to do with my current issue
