Thought I would show you some photo's of my wife's D3 V8 after I gave it a quick detailing yesterday.
process was, rinse, snowfoam pre-wash, wash using 2 bucket method and rinse again.
While it was wet I clayed the whole truck (bar bonnet as this needs to be wet sanded). Not much dirt came off with the clay bar so thats a good sign its been looked after, although as you can see the paint is somewhat flat and lacking in shine.
Washed again !!
Truck was then taped up ready for a single stage machine polish using Autobrite enrich, on a yellow Chemical guy's Hexlogic pad. (I use a rotary polisher)
Although the truck is silver its quite hard to see a good shine, however I am quite happy with the result.
One of the previous owners clearly didn't want the rear number plate to fall off. 10 blobs of silicone to hold it on !! Nightmare to get off. I had to use heat and a scraper carefully, and clean it up with some Autobrite "just the tonic" which is t he 1st time I have had to use it and its great stuff !!
Will hopefully get my new alloys on this weekend once the GG GT tyres are fitted..

Did a bit of clay bar work on mine recently. It's amazing how many small marks it removes.

Nice work.
So do you need to rise before snowfoam?
Maybe that's where I'm going wrong.

Although a clay bar is slow hard work it does an excellent long lasting job. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I don't rinse before snow foam personally, I foam the car dry because I feel it sticks on there longer!
I use a clay mit these days, not quite as good as a clay bar but very close, so much easier and faster though!
I always rinse before snow foaming, gets rid of the loose stuff..
I'm sure I posted this in the picture section !! Somehow it got moved !!
Anyway a claybar is a must before any polishing, like rrhool said it does get rid of tiny marks including paint that shouldn't be there !!
Leaves the paint work like glass.*D3 V8 SE Blue 2004 on LPG with Rock sliders, roof rack/Ladder, snorkel, 275/65x18 STT Muds, engine/G/box ally protection.

You know it's a proper cleaning when it involves masking tape and removing the number plate
