New member, first night, first post, please be gentle.
I have a factory fit rear drop down screen. The Home menu on the front dash screen
gives me three options - navigation, 4x4 info, and settings. The handbook shows a fourth
option - tv but this space is blank on my dash screen. I would be the best dad ever if I could produce
this option. Any ideas, thankyou
Did you get the Tv option too, or is it just the DVD player you have?
Mine has an option for RSE Rear Seat Entertainment and from there you can select what goes on the rear screens. I don't have the drop down screen but the ones fitted into the headrests.

TV option is only on the screen if the TV tuner is installed that works on the dashb oard - not anything to do with the rear entertainment which is self contained. Welcome to the forum
Just been told by my dealer that tv was a £500 factory option, struth........
and it only worked on the dash screen.....
bostin...
i'll do some diggin and report back.
Car Freeview Digital DVB-T TV Receiver Box*Free Aerial*
It seems perfect for what I want to achieve. Should be easy to make it a fixture. I will try one and post back - does anybody have any experience of this type of kit?

I have fitted one the same ( although its called a different name )
Works very well when your parked up ...also depends on wether your in a digital area ..this will get better in time .
Preaty much useless while driving , but i recon this could be improved with a better / amplified arial.
Fitted mine in the passenger side rear most cubby hole
Wiring is a lot neater now ..that was just testing .
Wiggs thanks for your rely. Big help to know i'm not the first. What are the problems when on the move as this is when I would be using it most.

Picture brakes up !!! it would be like holding a portable tv in your lap ..you would have to keep moving the ariel to get a signal .
As i said , as and when digital gets more updated , then you may get a better signal ..
The sat nav screen will work on the move ..and when ur watching the tv , the sat nav will still work in the background ..giving you directions ..if you want it too G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

I have a cunning plan to put the aerial on the roof, in the roof bump by the tailgate. Do you have an opinion as to whether this would help
cheers Kev

It would proberly be slightly better ...
In an ideal world you should use diversity antennas ...one on each side of the car .
The d3 has these fitted in the rear windows.I looked into using these , but 4 amps and a connecting box was around £800 ..and there was no guarantee the things would work .
Needless to say, i didnt bother .G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
This website is just going to keep costing me money and eating into my time.
Best thing is, I converted not just the wife to LR ownership, but a mate of mine (Gareth from the Wilts trip) now has a Defender and we're spending Thursday around here fitting extended breathers, steering, diff and tank guards and an RAI I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

In my last car I fitted a digi box - cheapest one I could find from Agros, as they ran on 12v, and then a digi aerial on my roof by Bosch that set me back £75.00 although could watch TV on the move tho, but anything above around 50mph and then the pic broke up, so might be the way to go in fitting the aerial on the roof - also this one yo have found is a lot more compact to the one I was using.....

Always thought about doing this on the D3, but after the novelty of fitting it, to be honest, I never seemed to watch it
Now I am just interested in a DVD package for the little'un in the back.......will get round to installing one, one of these days......
