Calling V8 owners - need more noise!!

The V8 does go well, but it's too quiet.

I hear some people delete the big resonator box but who knows where to get replacement pipes from?

Also as I have lpg I can get rid of the cats, anyone done this? Any gains to be had?

TIA,
Mark

I had looked into this then had to spend money on new tires and oil cooler.

It's still on the cards for me, do a search you will find my thread.

Check out this link for removal of the centre resonator https://landroverforums.com/forum/lr3-28/r...ust-85013/

On the CAT removal, as far as I'm aware, because the V8 was manufactured with CATs if they were missing the MOT would be failed, irrespective of the fuel used. You would have to refit the CATs inner cones removed so that, at least from the MOTs view point, they appeared to be still intact.

One of my cats had self destructed after an issue with misfires under the previous owner after garage that fitted the new heads for him, didn't pick up on it. So rather than wack out £££££s on a replacement I removed the innards of both.

Passed its MOT on LPG twice no problems, sounds a bit more throaty when accelerating without losing the quiet cruising.

Took and hour or two with the use of various chisels, crowbars and bits of rebar bent to shape. You need to move the rear O2 sensors out of the main exhaust stream.

Cant remember which exactly which ones I used but you need the angled ones https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=ca...p;_sacat=0

If I may ask. Why do you need to remove the sensors from the main stream?

As there is no MOT here in SA, a lot of guys simply remove the CATs and replace it with a straight pipe. Some claim better fuel consumption afterwards, some not.

I would prefer to stay with the quiet cruising, but after 200 000 kms they might be getting a bit clogged. At this stage I'm contemplating removing them and replacing with two small boxes, more or less what I did on the D2, except theD2s in SA ran open circuit, ie no sensors so from that perspective nothing changed except the sound.
