Hi guys, I wonder if someone could give me some help on this one as I know that there are a lot of knowledgeable people on here.
Twelve months ago I was towing my boat south of Troyes in central France when I managed to lose control and overturned my Disco with my boat ending up on the hard shoulder. Luckily my wife and I were unhurt (fantastic car to be in a crash) but the car and trailer were written off. They were taken to a garage compound and we thought no more about it having been paid out by my insurers.
Now, a year later I've had a call from the AA (our breakdown assistance) saying that the garage want 4000 euros storage fee! To say I'm gobsmacked would be an understatement and so what I'm asking is who is at fault here and who should be liable? The AA are speaking to the insurers but I would like some prior knowledge before they come back next week.
Thanks in advance,
cashwowud

I'd have thought if you'd been paid by the insurer then it's their wreck and their problem?

Unless you bought back the salvage as part of the payout, it's the insurers car, it's their bill! Richard

Same as above paid out means to me you are no longer responsible for the car anymore.
Someones going to get and kicking and best of all it aint you
As the 3 knowledgeable chaps above me have said Its not your problem You have been paid out so its not your car anymore unless you agreed to buy it back as part of the settlement, which I guess you didn't The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.
