How NOT to clean a MAP sensor
Had the engine cover of yesterday so thought I'd clean the MAP sensor
Sticking a cotton bud into the little hole and giving it a good prod is not, according to the Indy I called this AM, a good idea - unless you enjoy seeing the 'Restricted Performance' instantly flash up as soon as you next turn the engine on
I'm sure more intelligent folk than me will know the sensor contains a small and delicate diaphragm / wires that I have now wrecked.
Lesson learnt

Alfamale - Indy has ordered it, not sure, suspect an LR branded product, £63
There should be an idiots warning on them, something along the lines of...
'Just because there is an inviting little hole here - DO NOT stick anything in it, now put away your tools and speak to somebody who does know what they are doing before you break anything else'
I'll put my current restricted performance down to the cracked inlet manifold, which I'm hoping to get fixed on Thursday. They might just need to consider a replacement MAP at the same time though! I did exactly the same a few months back....
Ordered new one from Adv.Factors - it was a Citroen/Peugeot item which is identical to the one Land Rover use...

I wouldn't bother tbh. Your faults will be down to that crack and you've already cleaned the MAP (without sticking a cotton bud down it! )Bodsys Brake Bible
I didn't stick it all the way in...honest sir!!! But it was a real mess when I pulled it out...on both ends!
