Air conditioning fault
Hi everyone, the other half brought to my attention that the air con was only cold when moving and that the engine was revving when coming to a stop. Now I've been out and had a poke around and noticed that the viscous fan is barely turning and can be stoped with very little effort.
I found this plug with nothing in it which seams to go to the fan
Then I found this plug floating around
Now plugging it back to the fan I was hoping my problem would cure itself but no joy the fan is still barley turning and that's in this heat
Is there any thing else you might suggest looking at or does it need booking in for a new fan (hopefully under warranty )

Wonder why its unplugged?
Anyway back to the fan engine cold and switched off the fan should be moderately stiff to turn but not so stiff it feels solid, if its truns dead easy its most likely had it, and with it running from cold it will drive hard as the viscous oil sorts itself out, then should go into idle mode, ie turns but not as fast as the engine but still moves some air.
I think the electric side of the fan is a speed sensor and I also think the ecu can command the fan to lock up.
have you taken the top fan shroud off or is it missing?

Driving a LR3 V8 in Texas when I was over there with temp about 35C, the viscous fan was cutting in every time I stopped for a short period at a junction. Very obvious and noisy . Conversely my D3 Diesel hardly ever cut in to maximum in the same conditions .
