Yet another parking sensor problem...

Hi folks...

Quick story to set the scene to get some advice. I've got a 2005 D3 with front and rear parking sensors. Had an intermittent problem with the rear sensors September last year. In the end, I replaced the rear loom and all 4 sensors as I couldn't pin down exactly the problem.

Couple of months ago, started to have an intermittent problem with the front. It seemed to go away without intervention.

Week or so ago, jumped in the motor, turned the key and had the pdc button flashing orange and a high pitch constant tone from the rear for a few seconds then the light just continues to flash. If I unplug the rear loom completely, problem continues exactly the same.

A kind forum member (thanks again Mark) checked the codes this morning:

* B1B57-11 (2F) Front sensors power circuit - General electrical failure - circuit short to ground

* B1B58-11 (2F) Rear sensors power circuit - General electrical failure - circuit short to ground

So still not really sure what the problem is. Could it actually be a problem with the front which is throwing out the back?

I've found posts about similar issues, but not quite what I have. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance,

Chris.

Pleasure Chris and good to meet you Thumbs Up ,

Should also add, checking the rear socket with a multimeter and all the sensor return pins were all at about 80Mohm, 0V line was just a few ohms to the nearest bolt (So not a great earth) and the 12V line was indeed 12V to the 0V pin.

Unfortunately I couldn't turn off the front PDC in the CCF as I don't have a pro IID to see if that would isolate the fault a bit better.

Is there a way of checking individual sensors without them being connected to anything??

Answers on a postcard Laughing

I'm guessing if they are powered up they should then click - you might be able to get a signal off the 3rd wire too - but not a clue if it is PWM or DC.

Did you have any luck finding out the cause of the issue?

I've got the same fault codes and symptoms!

Cheers

Ive got this issue as of since the summer heat has kicked in, my moneys on a duff sensor, but to get at them all you need to take off the rear bumper cover, so may as well order some news ones and wait till i have them all here to get stuck into this job,
