Halfords Battery
I probably need a new battery cos mine is over 6 years old and the voltage drops below 9v whan turning over the engine.
I don't have a problem with it starting and I don't get any warning stuff on the dash, but I thought better to preempt any future problems. I do leave it connected to my CTEK when not in use.
Ideally I would go for a Bosch S5A13 or an Exide equivalent from the likes of Tayna or Alpha Batteries online.
Problem is I ain't got an IID tool to reset the BMS - so I wondered if anyone has used Halfords because they claim to be able to do the business. The battery I'm looking at is exactly equivalent in spec to the one that was factory fitted and could well be a rebadged Yuasa

Maybe see if one of the local members on here has an appropriate tool to reset your car for the price of a beer? Rather that than let a Halfords bod anywhere near my car with a diagnostic tool

I cannot answer your specific question because I have D3’s on which I run Yuasa 019’s silver and black the black ones have a longer guarantee (for what that’s worth)? All from Halfords and all are performing brilliantly especially in this harsher winter the silver is coming up to five years now.

Sorry to highjack the thread a little, but why does the BMS (presumably Battery Management System??) or in fact anything need resetting if a new battery is installed?
These Discos seem overly complicated...!!
Thanks

Have you got the Reconditioning function on your Ctek, rather than just topping it up, perhaps it just needs reconditioning...

I changed my battery recently and didn't need to reset anything. And it still works Bri

^^^^ No need to reset anything. Other than stereo bass & treble settings. Just take the old battery out, and stick the new one in!Richard

Thanks. Only reason I ask because I disconnected both terminals recently to fit my Ctek lead and other than the time and windows one-click I don't think I've noticed I needed to re-set anything. I wondered if I needed to do something also through the IID.

I have a 2013 D4, and recently replaced the original battery with a Halfords AGM battery. They made sure I knew about setting and resetting the BMS as I paid for the battery, and offered to fit and do the reset. I declined as I have spanners and and an IId tool.
Reset took seconds, its on the IID service procedure.
It works really well and the charge voltage varies with engine power as it should.

Tayna have now gotten quite expensive on the Exide EA1000 battery, 150 plus 8gbp delivery, same can be had off of ebay for 95 delivered.
Any warranty issues with Tayna involve packing the thing up and sending it back at your cost (that sounds like a lot of fun!), whereas halfords you just turn up on their doorstep and hopefully get an answer.

Thanks for all the responses guys. Unfortunately nobody has used Halfords and I do have a concern about their ability to use an IID type tool.
The battery most definitely needs to be AGM so I'm limited with choices.MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

If you have an AGM battery already fitted from new there is no need to upgrade the CCF, some early model D4's didn't have AGM batteries and do need the CCF changing. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Now that ^^^ is good news.
From what I've seen you seem to be a technical guy so I'm inclined to go with this - thanks MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

I've now found a local auto electrician who can supply a Bosch S5A13 AGM for £175 and will fit and reprogram for £35. He said the BMS will need resetting even though the old battery is AGM.
I don't know what to believe now MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand
