Hi guys,
Long time lurker and non owner here.
I've always wanted a D3/D4, but could never afford or justify one.
But, now I have opted out of company fleet, and leased a sensible car for work (40k per year so Mondeo estate it is!) I am making quite a bit of money back now.
With 2 daughters, big caravan and needing to haul more and more crap about, its time I did the sensible thing and bought a D3.
Originally was going to start with a cheap toe-dip, but things took an interesting turn today.
I have a very good friend of mine who is a dealer, who called me about a D3 he has just bought to sell on and thought of me.
Its a 57 plate HSE (fully loaded, as I wanted!) auto. Got 132k on the clock, full service history (partial dealer, balance is LR specialist). Just, and I mean just, less than 100 miles ago had a full brand new engine fitted by reputable LR specialist, including new injectors. Also did brake pipes whilst body off and EGR blank/remap.
Had both bottom front arms done.
Interior is immaculate. Drivers seat has a little scuff of colour loss on the side, but nothing else.
I've had a long test drive and it drives lovely. No creaks, no rattles. Everything electrical works. No smoke. No judder. No lights on dash apart from suspension inactive which the dealer is going to sort as he thinks it just needs a reset.
It needs 2 tyres now and 2 tyres soon.
My friend has offered to fix the suspension inactive fault, put 2 new tyres on, 4 wheel align, put 6 month warranty on it and let me have it for £7750.00
Got side steps, fixed tow bar, everything.
It almost sounds too good to be true. I can't think of anything else to check. A/C cold too! I've pushed every button and it all works.
**Edit, the plastic wheel arches and bumpers have been painted body colour, cracking in a few places. Could do with painting again, but that nothing to worry about? Decent bodyshop should sort that. ***
Anything else I ought to check?
I'm pretty sure this will be a good car and the deal sounds amazing to me, but you guys are the specialists.............. thoughts?
Thanks in advance,

Sounds ok ish!!!!!! The suspension fault isn't something needing reset, and if you look the market is full of similar sounding cars. At much the same money.......it's not to good to be true. Don't think you have been handed a gift. If you have drove a few of them and been looking a while then maybe.

Smooth changes on the gearbox,any noises or juddering from said box ? Does it go into Hi/Lo ok ? Any whining from diffs, suspension goes up and down ok ? Good luck hope all is ok for you The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

It won't be going up nor down as it has a suspension fault.
