Germany 2014 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 HSE Lux Auto Corris GreyDiscovery 4

Gear selector switch replaced and car is back where it belongs. So far so good!

The dealers are not totally convinced this is the solution but maybe they are hedging and all the time the car runs, I'm not complaining.

OK, forget divine intervention, the whole lot has come back after a few weeks of trouble-free running. All the alarms, blocking of the gear switch, limp-home mode. I tried it again today and got zero response, would not start and would not display the settings and info.

How does one get LR to cast their eye over a difficult technical problem?

Hello Ray,

It's so sad to hear that. It's not fair. This is a true nightmare! It's just unbelievable that LR still haven't found/sorted this fault... Confused

All the best Buddy.

Ran fine for a few weeks, then the whole lot came back, all alarms, limp-home mode, refusal to start.....

On the transporter back to the dealers. No word yet.

Need to change the title of this thread, Odd Behaviour no longer cuts it!!

So long...

Just to complete the tale of woe, or at least, as far as it goes to date. After several failed attempts to locate the fault, the dealers workshop offered a trade-in deal against a Disco5 demonstrator, which I have taken and am now decamping to the Disco5 forum.
The 4 sits quietly in their yard awaiting two new cable trees and even then they are not fully certain that will fix it. One is only expected in May...maybe they have to make them specially now?
Overall, what you might call a distressed purchase. I was happy with the 4, it did everything I needed and even in its non-functioning state it looks good. The new 5, which I have had for 3 days now, has mainly impacted on my (hairless) head from the 'boot lid' corners which are at precisely the wrong height....
