IID Key Pairing :-)

Just replaced my second key before I wore a hole in it. Programmed new key with IID, using video as a guide. Piece of cake, took a couple of minutes. Now got two new keys, spare, and now defunct old key.

Happy days. Mr. Green

Does look very easy, where did you get the new key from? I've only got one at present and am paranoid about it either being lost or breaking.

I took the lazy, and more expensive route, got it from my LR dealer. They find it amusing that I can programme the new key before their machine has even booted up. Whistle

Hi DSL

hope u don't mind me asking is it considerably more expensive going down the dealer route plse

seen keys for sale on ebay for £70 , plus the £15 to get the blank cut and the programming of course free through the iid

did buy a key from a company in southampton for £50 that had a batch , haven't seen them on ebay lately

was amazed as mentioned in how easy it was to program it via the iid

thks

ISTR £130. Will confirm when I get the bill. Thumbs Up Car is in for a couple of bits and bobs pre Road Trip kicking off in 2 weeks. I didn't want a spare key that is on the point of getting a hole in it in the truely ar$e end of nowhere in Finland or Norway. May as well have it for the trip. Thumbs Up

hi DSL

many thks for the reply Thumbs Up

doesn't seem a bad price , heard a few people getting keys off there dealers and having to pay in excess of £200

ur upcoming trip sounds brilliant , agree ref the key , wouldn't be too much fun if it failed whilst on holiday

would adore to drive across europe, camping along the way and getting off the beaten track

have a good trip Thumbs Up

Question from me. I am down to 1 key and I am interested in obtaining 2 more to make it 3 in total. Will my 2006 car let me add an additional 2 keys? Keen to find out if anyone else has done this

Thanks

Stupid question - can I "unpair" the duff one? I tried to change the battery but ended up in a world of pain with the circuit board de-tracking (I need to ask Santa for a Megawatt soldering iron).

Having just watched the video looks like you are essentially re-programming the ones you want sequentially. So implicitly the bad one is removed from the pairing.

Any Idea what the Issue could be?

Bought a new key from China and had it cut locally by a locksmith for a tenner but the Key would not even twist to position one, therefore preventing programming.

Any idea what the issue could be?
Please note I've opened the FOB afterwards and can confirm it's not just a blank case.

Cheers,
Mo

either the lock smith didn't do a good job. (compare it yourself)

or the key doesn't go in far enough???

It's a mechanical, traditional key problem you have.

On ebay sellers will cut you a key blade from a picture ~£13, but then it maybe too long to flip away in your key side Laughing

I'd take it back to the lock smith.
