There is one on ebay at the moment £85 + £15 but the whole step is a popular item and a bit cheaper too.
My lost trim looks as though it fell off when the holes for the rivets rusted away, leaving nothing for the rivets to bite onto.
I'm just waiting for a whole step to come up on a 99p auction less than 10 miles away... until then, I think the flash of silvery/grey paint I've added to the side looks ok (but that may be my failing eyesight)

How is the strip held in place and can it be removed? My N/S had an argument with a rock in Scotland last week and lost.

The aluminium strip is (was) riveted to the steel step from the inside but as it has rusted, the rivers have just slipped through the holes. A bit of freeze/thaw action over the years hasn't helped either.
Wire brush and tin of paint required at regular intervals!

I managed to speak to a kind mechanic today.
He took both trims and replaced the rivets with screws.
Both back on secure!

Hi Artic Monkey,
Can you tell me how he fitted the silver trim to the actual sidestep with screws rather than the rivets?
Mine fell off whilst off roading today, rivets are wrecked and have snapped off. I need to fit silver trim back on but interested to find out how this was done. Im sure the screws will be more secure than rivets so if I can do this too it would be preferable.
Cheers
Dan

In my case the rivets didn't slip through the holes in the steel, they dissolved over time.
I tried refitting my trim with screws but it fell off again so I drilled slightly larger holes in the trim (the holes in the steel were fine) and fitted larger rivets.
It seems fine now but time will tell.
Before I fitted the steps I sprayed the underside of the steps with hammerite and suspect that is why the steel hasn't rusted away like it did on the last steps I fitted.

Guys,
The running board also seems to have bent very slightly and the door trim is rubbing on the running board when you open and close the passenger front door.
Any ideas how to bend back the running board?
If possible i'd like to keep the running board on the car but can take off if I absolutely need to.
Suggested as fix for bent trailer panels elsewhere on forum.

My step appeared to be bent after a bit of off-roading turned out to be more adventurous than I planned.
But in fact it turned out the brackets had shifted slightly in their holes on the chassis. A bit of vigorous jumping up and down in the step settled it back into its lower position, and the door no longer fouled.New gearbox & TC, 3 x front wheel bearings, belts changed, new oil pump, new battery, new rear prop, new front prop, new front diff, front arb refurbed, front cv boot kit, egr blank and BAS software patch, full rear suspension / drivelive rebuild, new front arms, LED trailer light fix, split charge.
Never had a 107, 90 or 127, but have had most of the rest!

I thought it might be the brackets rather than the actual board itself.
