EPB / hand brake repair?
Having just had my second hand brake actuator failure ( 2 1/2 years and hence just outside warranty from the last failure) - failing with the death squeal I cannot face £1000 the local indi wants to replace the unit LR019223
On eBay guys are offering to repair the unit - either send to them for £150 or drive to Blackburn and work /parts for 350£ - it sounds too good!!
Anyone used this service?
Anyone in the south / Hampshire offering this?
Thanks

May well just need adjusting. Did mine at the weekend after the death squeal. 1 hour job, probably half that for a more competent diy-er.
Check out Bodsy's brake bible in the maintenance section of the wicky.

Mine just needed adjustment after squeal, no other cost involved. I didn't use it until the adjustment carried out, so didn't jam up.

As others have said (using Bodsy's Brake Bible):
Strip the Brakes
Clean the Brakes
Lube the Brakes
Adjust the Brakes
Use the Brakes
Use them or lose them.2005 Discovery 3 HSE

Is the actuator really beyond repair?
As others have said, chances are, it just needs adjusting properly.
I see you're relatively local (Hampshire). Have you had West 4x4 take a look at it?
