one law for one ,one law for another
today whilst out I watched a british transport police van park in a no parking area turn on his flashy lights get out of the van and then proceed in to a shop where after 15 mins he came with 2 bags of shopping and get back into the van and drive off after turning off his lights
what a complete cock because if any of us had done that you can bet your last quid you would have come out to a ticketD3 in Buckingham blue now SWMBO's Mine D4 commercial

Well I wouldn't, no one is above the law and there is nothing worse than seeing those whose job it is to enforce the law blatantly disregard it for their own purposes..==================================

They do not have the right to park illegally and go shopping. But if it is an emergency then they can pretty do what ever needs to be done and the weekly shop is not an emergency Discovery 3 se gone

"what a complete cock"
Hold on guys - you have no idea why the van was parked there, maybe the shopping was being collected so a vulnerable victim of crime had some food or other items to replace trashed ones...
maybe someone else is the 'cock' in this post.

dont get me wrong just spent the last week in cardiff and the officers down there did an amazing job wonderful with the people and the fans for the champions league have total respect for them
But he was breaking the law using his lights in a no parking area and then going to do his shop ,thats wrong and if that was you or I and we had stopped there we would in all probability have got done and if we had come on here and complained about it I would have been the first to say serves you right
gje respect your opinon but i watched him get out of the van with two empty bags and then come back out with two full ones put them in the front and watched him then reach in and eat something out of one of the bags so repectfully i dont belive im being a cockD3 in Buckingham blue now SWMBO's Mine D4 commercial

... ok maybe he also bough himself a sandwich... big deal.
But this is a clear abuse of a privelidge - wrong.
What makes it worse it was done in public for others to judge, setting a very bad example.BREXIT - done properly.

Okay, you disagree. You have a different opinion, leave it like that!
I agree, you can't have one law for the Police and another for Joe Public. Potential misuse of hazard lights and more importantly, using the firms vehicle and time to do shopping when he should be out catching criminals.
Personally, I'd take a photo and report the guy to the Professional Standards Department of BTP. They can then sort of if its an offence and/or he's contravened any of the discipline regulations.

Can:
Exceed speed limits - in line with pursuing thier duty.
Go through red lights.....ditto
Park where they shouldn't ......ditto.
Do lots of things that are obviously against some rule in pursuance if duty - we accept & are glad they do such things.
However I was under the impression Police worked by & set standards.
Parking like the thread stated - to shop.
Decide for yourself (which you obvousky have) I've got my principles & standards youve got yours
Are you suggesting we don't comment or desist in posting as had been done here ?
Yes - life is pretty short with lots of unexpected things that we all deal with one way or another.
I'm personally dealing with a serious health issue. Chatting on here has been for me a diversion.BREXIT - done properly.

Actually parking on the pavement is not illegal everywhere, the Highway Code says you must not park on the footpath in London, but should not elsewhere, although there are a few exceptions where local legislation has been applied.==================================

Or he may have gone to get the refreshments for the twenty other lads down the nick after they have all been on 20 hour shifts looking after the public over the weekend!
