Good Restaurants In Victoria. |
|
Pay back SWMBO weekend, the weekend after Easter.
Any sugs. on restaurants in Victoria (good ones. No riff-raff, as Basil would say.) We both have at least 4 days off so a night or two in Country Vic would be fine.
Thought of Lake House, Daylesford, Frango & Frango's, again Daylesford. I know of a great place to stay at Hepburn Springs but we go there sooo often the magic will wear off if We go too often. You've also got to keep out of the way of the brickies, wharfies, union thugs and other women that live there.
Zesty's & Steffano's are good restaurants but tooo far away, in Mildura.
Any ideas appreciated. Did you think I would leave you crying,
When there's room in my D3 for 7,
Climb in here Joe we'll soon be flying,
I can go just as fast with 7.

IMO cant go past Beechworth - tons of very good restaurants in the town.
I've stayed at a small B&B in the main street that used to be a bank - something like "freeman on ford" or the like. Also, Milawa is just a stones throw away (try staying your second night at www.lindenwarrah.com.au/ - very nice but very exy).
Good luck. Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Oh dear that place has ALL the sh SWMBO is in to. Just as long as I don't have to do the spa thingy.
There's also shopping in Beechworth. Must hide the Visa card.
Only redemption (for Me anyway) Pennyweight Winery. I quiet like their wines. 8) Did you think I would leave you crying,

Ahh, a Florentinos man like myself
Sometimes, we need something more than the D3 to keep [our wives] happy!
Beechworth is probably our family's favourite non-4wd destination in Vic - something for everyone (check out the lolly shop). Make sure you book your evening meals early in the day.

Never been to Florentinos. $700+ was in Hobart and Brisbane.

Florentinos - my favourite restaurant of all time. Its not the greatest food ive ever had (close though) but its a whole "culinary experience".
I understand the wine spend - I have a business expense account for taking out clients! Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.

One well worth a visit is the Harvest Home Hotel in Avenel (not to be mistaken for the Avenel Hotel). Exceptional food, wine, accommodation and location - which is only 80 minutes from Melbourne.
If you venture as far as Beechworth, give Wardens a go. Lunch there last weekend was remarkable. 2007 Stornoway Grey TDV6 SE

Thanks Whit.
Have been to the Harvest Home. Tied it in with a wine club function at Thabilk. 8) (10 year vertical tasting of Marsane and Their 1890's vines Shiraz.) 8) as. Then back to the Harvest Home for drinks, dinner and more drinks. A bottle of, then, 12 y.o. St Henri Shiraz was a memorable highlight through the haze.
BUT....BUT Dem BELLS.
I reckon the night I stayed there was the busiest night, the then, National Rail ever had. (for a Saturday).
19 of the longest ever Superfreighters went through our bed room across our bed and on toward Sydney or Melbourne. With level crossing bells giving a steady ringing beat to the symphony of metal wheels on metal rails just outside the window. The faintest sound of a locomotive whistle, whilst I'm asleep, will have Me sitting bolt upright, in a sweat, reaching and grasping for a non-existent brake handle.
So HHH is out unfortunately. but thats the sort stuff I am after (minus the loooooong freight trains). Did you think I would leave you crying,

Then I should also mention that if you want a nice drive instead of all freeway (and what D3 owner doesn't) I can recommend going up through Marysville, then via Alexandra/Mansfield/Tatong/Benalla/Milawa, through to the N/East area.
Also, if you can get to the Tatong pub near lunch/dinner time, I strongly suggest you stop (its one of my favourite pubs in Vic).
