So after the gratefully received advice from my first topic, i went and got myself a Disco 4.
It has the smart key and "buttons" on the door handles. If i walk up to it with the key , and press it, the hazards flash and nothing happens. Click the remote and doors unlock. Press the button on the door and it locks again.
Lock it from the key, and press the button, and it unlocks. I'm very confused as to how it's meant to work so just locking it like i would any car at the moment with the remote, annoying though as i'm in the habit of pulling a handle to make sure it's locked and now have to put the key in the house and come back out to check!
What am i missing?

Don't press the button to unlock or open the door, by pressing the button when it is already locked, your just confirming it. Just pull the handle to open.
Pressing the button is just to lock it.

just pull to open...just press button to lock...push button second time to dead lock..
in the early days of ours I went out one nite to check it was locked...pulled the handle and the door opened..did this many times until I realised I had key in my pocket....too much beer

So two press on the remote to deadlock as standard - I get that.
However when Geoff did my FBH, I cant remember whether he programmed the car for deadlock at first press.
Any way of checking without electronic wizardry? and if I do press the lock button more than once I take it the car will continue to stay in deadlock mode? Last of the D4 HSE...
