Radio turns on but no volume

Sorry for coming over from the RRS forum again but I thought it might be better to ask on here as more D3s around, I've got a 2005 RRS SE without nav and suddenly the stereo has stopped working.
The head unit turns on, displays the radio station etc just no sound and it doesn't do anything when I try and adjust the volume, has this happened to anyone else before?, I'm hoping it's nothing too expensive as the car has cost me a fortune recently already!.

I have strangely have this happen on my 2005 SE with the radio showing a station but no sound. The only cure for me was to turn the car off, lock the doors leave for a couple of minutes then restart and all was fine again.

If it is permanently off then obviously something someone else on forum may have tips for.

Is a hard reset when you disconnect the battery for half an hour then replace?, I tried doing this but it didn't need the air suspension re calerbraing so I'm not sure if it worked?, is the process different on the D3/RRS to the FFRR as that's the only one I've done it on before.

Check that your cowl is not warped over the pollen duct. If its warped, water can get in and wet contacts inside.
