iPod not working after iPhone plugged in.

My iPod has always worked faultlessly, but now the tracks show on the screen but won't play. This occurred since an iPhone was plugged into the USB socket to charge it.

I have read somewhere that the car is now looking for that iPhone in priority over the iPod.

Does anybody know how to get the IPod working again?

Could it still be rebuilding track list? My usb stick behaved same when I added a load of tracks after initially testing it with just a couple of albums. Took longer than 1/2 hour trip to work but was ok part way home later in day.

I am fairly sure it's not that, as it wouldn't play when we left for a 4 hour drive home from Pembrokeshire to Worcestershire, so it had plenty of time to get its act together.

I have got a feeling it's something to do with another Apple device being plugged in, and the car still giving that priority?

Have you tried a hard reset on the iPod? (Not a factory restore, just a reset)

As above

Agree with JamesW.....the get out of jail card.
An iPod in confused mode won't work with any infotainment system...well any of mine that is.

Question: what sort of iPod ?

Yep, tried a reset, its a Nano 5th Gen.

I am going to try an iTunes update, but something definitely happened after the other iPhone was plugged in.

This is why I think its got something to do with the iPhone that was connected, I found this in the Land Rover owners support online:

They don't like 2 Apple devices connected! Try deleting the iPhone from both the Telephone and My Music menus, then turn off the vehicle and let it go to sleep. When you go back, plug in the iPod without having the iPhone with you. Hopefully, the iPod will work, leave it connected and selected as your music source, and then pair the iPhone for telephony use. It worked on my MY14 Thumbs Up

No success, but thanks for all the advice so far.

I tried an iTunes update on the iPod which made no difference. The iPhone is not shown on the phone list or the 'MyMusic' option, so there is nothing to disconnect (it was only plugged in to charge it, not use as a music source).

My Blackberry is the only device shown for Bluetooth, so I'll try deleting that from the devices list, but it has only ever been used for calls, never music.

Using the iPod for music has worked perfectly for the past year, with my Blackberry on Bluetooth for the calls. The iPod has now suddenly stopped playing ball.

Try something non-Apple in the USB slot?

OK, its SOLVED.

Thanks for all of the advice, I tried everything suggested here, to no avail. Just in case anyone has a similar issue I'll update on how I fixed it.

I tried a different iPod and it worked straight away, which then pointed to an issue with my iPod. I had done a reset, but I decided to give it a full factory reset through an iTunes restore, back to a 'new' iPod.

This worked, I plugged it back in and away it went, so the moral is if all else fails, try the full-on factory reset of the iPod.

Thumbs Up nice one. A reset of increasing degrees normally resolves most technical issues Laughing
