Spare wheel winch mod
Somewhere on this forum I remember somebody had come up with a simple socket/adaptor set-up which would allow the spare wheel winch to be operated with the rear seats lowered. This could be left in place permanently. I have used the search function but I have failed to find it. Can anybody point me in the direction of the original post. TIA, Mike.
Can't search at the moment but have read it, I think. Didn't it also offer a means of using an electric window motor to achieve same ends using a switch?
Maybe just google it in case on alternative website ( wash mouth out with soap ).

The one I'm looking for was a simple non electric one. 22mm socket, adapter, thin extension rod which fits between seat backs, then an adaptor which will allow drive from ratchet spanner. I'm sure I saw it on here!

It was member CDS with his Winder-O-Matic, here's the original group buy;
Took the hex end off the useless LR jack handle and welded an inverted socket on it 10mm I think , then a piece of hex bar 10mm ? from an Allen key, this has another socket attached (welded again), this then fits through the gap in the seats and into the other socket that stays on the nut of the wheel winch when you need to lower it Altox GSM FBH controller thread

This sounds like the original post I'm thinking of. Did you have a pic of this setup. Cheers

This may be of interest to those with the later model eye fitting.
It is made from 1" stainless round bar with a slot cut into it.
The slot required a slight taper to suit the eye and the bolt is an M8 cut down to suit.
One side is ground flat for the spring washer and the other side is tapped thread instead of a nut.
Machined up a plastic bush to go in the eye to keep it from rattling:
For the top, a recess was machined for a socket to be press-fit. It is a tight interference fit that was pressed using the vice.
Tested with a long breaker bar to ensure that it wouldn't spin.
Looks like this in place without cover on:
Foam was used to seal between hole in cover and the adapter and this has worked well at keeping out dust/water.
150mm long 1/4" drive extension bar fits between seats:
I made an adaptor out of a big bolt and nut, with 22mm socket and some 1/4 drive parts. Even works through the slide out floor.
