Tyre Pressures Maximum

I was inflating my tyres today (GG AT's) to the correct pressures according to the chart on the drivers door. Pressure for 5 + luggage is 4.2 bar or 60PSI in old money. After inflating 3 tyres, using Tesco air machine at £1.50 to get this far, I was reading the small print on the tyres waiting for the bleep from the machine and I noticed it said "Maximum Inflation 51PSI" Shocked

I checked the door chart again and then all 4 tyres and realised that the tyres could not be inflated to the recommended pressures for a D3 at full load!!???

Out of interest what maximum pressures can AT, AT2 or other tyres we fit to the D3 be inflated to. ???

I paid another £1.00 to deflate all the tyres to 50PSI and used it.

Where do I stand if I had had an accident and the tyres where inflated to the manufacturers maximum pressure but not Land Rovers??? Whistle

I'd have another look at the pressure sticker, just in case you're reading it wrong. Thumbs Up

PS I see where you've gone wrong, that's the pressure for the skinny spare. Thumbs Up

I feel a total plonker........... Embarassed

I have owned this D3 for 9 years and have adjusted the tyre pressures dozens of time when I am carrying a load and that is the first time I have ever read that sticker as 60PSI for my tyres....I thought at the time it doesn't usually take this amount of time to adjust the pressures Shocked

I have to be going senile......... Crying or Very sad

In my defense I have been using a lot of hire vans recently that run at 50/60PSI and I have had to adjust them as they seem to come from the hire place with 36PSI in them. Evil or Very Mad

My post will remain here to embarrass me for all eternity, it goes to show the brain doesn't always interpret what the eye sees........ Exclamation Exclamation Wink

I did get a huge decrease in fuel consumption running at 50PSI..........32.7mpg with AC on compared to 29 without, on a 74 mile motorway run fully loaded...... I wouldn't recommend it though....!!8)
