Is my trip 'pooter broken?

Saw this on was back through Germany earlier in the month. Reality was 37.7mpg which I put down to good roads and Polish Orlen Verva Diesel. A record for the old girl by a long chalk!! The next fill up was a disappointing 34.92(a). Laughing With similar running (cruising at 60mph loaded up with camping gear) I'd be pleased with 32mpg(a).

And just snapped this after arriving home. 390 miles on Tesco diesel, sat on CC at my usual plodding 60mph for virtually all the way but it would struggle to show 34mpg never mind 39.something!! On the way up I got 33.6mpg actual which is 10% better than normal as I was loaded up to almost max weight.

Trip + range was consistently 700, it's usually 540!! That trip counter was reset on leaving Tesco Lesmahagow and almost 400 miles on shade under a half a tank full! Shocked Shocked

OK theories time. I'm working on the theory that something is broken. Possibly a widget in the transfer box that means I'm running in 2WD. Other than that puzzled as to why the old girl has lost her thirst. Confused

No, usual amount of crud in place. All crud accounted for. Though I was tempted to hoover the inside of her briefly yesterday. The temptation didn't last long. Whistle

She's as much a clean freak as I am, which is not at all. Snigger

Next trip is down to Hailsham to get her gearbox fixed, not sure if she'll be happy at that or not. Sad

what was that Wendy Craig sitcom from a million years ago ? Butterflies ?? the one where the dad was obsessed with MPG and his two sons used to add/remove petrol randomly ?

think one of the sons was a youthful Nicholas Lyndhurst ?

@Geoff: That's a blast from the past. Thumbs Up I don't remember that one but I remember the car parking scene, bit like our drive/road when I want to get one of the Discos out. Whistle

Snigger Shame LR don't put in 4 figures before the decimal in that computation. Well obviously 3's not enough! Laughing Laughing

I think 2 before the decimal would be sufficient for the near future!!
