Help on a judder on a Disco 3 2007 plate please |
|
I have just acquired a disco3 on an 07 plate and I so love it. It's on a 189000 clock. The only thing I noticed recently is when pulling of roundabouts it judders a little and settles after a while, not all the time. It's an auto box.. I have been told its common on higher mileage discos and to get the oils mega flushed and etc? Can anyone advise on this please? what are the pros and cons of doing this?. I am new to this forum and Land Rovers and leave in the Buckinghamshire U.K. region. Your advise and input will be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Would most likely be the torque converter. The fluid breaks down and doesn't react as expected in the torque converter clutch which can cause shudder. The other possibility is that the torque converter clutch is just worn out.
The general consensus is that if you're getting this shudder, try a 'megaflush' of the gearbox along with a tube or two of Dr Tranny Instant Shudder Fix. This may cure the shudder for quite a while but it will be back. If a flush doesn't cure it then, you'll need a new torque converter.
Try to cure it ASAP. Until you do, drive around it by not flooring it at points where it would normally start to shudder. The shuddering causes a very high shock load on the crankshaft (which is already under load at this point) and this is thought to be one of the reasons behind incidences of cranks snapping in the TDV6. 2008 RRS TDV6 - Chawton White/Black/Lined Oak - 20's, h/k, sunroof - 350K KM.

Hi!
+1
Try to get maybe 4 or 5 liters of ATF (for example AG55) changed or use the tranny method....what ever suites you more or costs You less...and compare with the behavior and feeling when accelerating.
Did me and my cars first oilchange...and especcially the first spill'n'replace of ATF was quiet well recognizabled
There are many threads on here....
Search words could be: lifeguard, auto box oil change, steel pan,
Maybe it's the perfect Job to start with, if You want learn the spirit of the D3 "bottom Up"
