D3 smoking under heavy load or kickdown acceleration?

Hi

My D3 has started to smoke under heavy load while accelerating or kick down acceleration when empty. I can see the black smoke in rear view mirror. Other than the smoke It seems to be running OK.

I have no error readings on my GAP diag tool. It's done 81K miles Serviced mid February, it has only recently started doing it.

Can anyone give me any pointers as to what it might be?

Thanks

Chris

Hi,

Spot on!!!!!

Got a replacement pipe from my Dealer £51 inc VAT off the shelf, comes complete with new pipe clips.

I could have got a pattern part for around £26 plus postage £6.50 plus a two day wait, and I don't think that part come with clips.

Many thanks

Brilliant thanks.

Took me 45 mins this morning including a test drive. The longest job was removing the plastic cover, cleaning off years of accumulated mud soaked with a little oil and replace it. The hose was dead simple. Once detached from their respective pipes, pull up half way, turn 90 degrees anti-clockwise and it pops right out.

There is obviously a point of max pressure on the top bend, from all the pictures I've seen the splits are in the same place.... I did notice that my old pipe had an external nylon mesh on the bottom half of the pipe, I suspect to try and stop the pipe from blowing up like a balloon. The new one has mesh at the top as well.

Test drive OK no black smoke, Very Happy I wish the turbo was as easy to change!!!!

Yeah I must say I was a bit concerned when I found it. I worked out I'd probably done about 1000 miles, some of which was heavy towing since I noticed it smoking. I'd assumed the power loss was because of the weight I was towing! Hope I haven't knackered the turbo Neutral

Don't know why the systems can't detect it because there must be a loss of pressure!!!

Not if they highlight other issues, like the fact my crossover pipe bracket is missing and I'm pretty sure is leaking... Big Cry
