Changing rear roll bar bushes and drop links
Hi,
I passed an MoT today, but had advisories that both rear roll bar bushes and drop links need to be replaced. I've had a look at prices for a full kit on Advanced Factors, and think I should be OK to do this myself. I was quoted almost 500 by the dealer (an independent that has been very reasonable for other work, but this seems very high to me).
One question for those more experienced - is there a recommended sequence that makes this easier (or a wrong way that makes it harder!!)? As in, is it better to do bushes first, then links, or is it easier to get the bushes off when the links are off as well?
Or does it make no difference at all?
Thanks for any help

I done the bushes and links on my RRS, I'm not sure it makes much difference which you do first, from memory, I left the links until last. but I removed both the D bush clamps together, I found it easier to fit the new bushes and clean the bar up, If they haven't been done for a few years... maybe a bit of WD40 on the captive nuts/threads and work the bolts in and out.

Plenty of lube on the nuts before you start.
I also found a 1/4" drive ratchet with a cut down socket came in really handy due to tight access.De-Tango
V8 Brakes
EGRs blanked
Running boards
3 flash indicators and clock on dash
Blingy grille...

Did mine last year. You will naturally have the links off first to do the ARB bushes. Then put the drop links on last. You must do the whole kit (bushes and drop links) it's just not worth not doing it all while it's apart.

Use the search function. There is a good write up with pictures. Well worth viewing as there is little space between the body and the clamp retaining nuts. Drown everything in WD40 or similar well before you start and use hex sockets not 12 points as you will round the nut heads.

Thanks all. Ill definitely get hex sockets then - generally every time I try anything on a discovery I end up shearing or rounding off a nut. I've a full can of plus gas ready as well!!
