Acceleration issue on Discovery 3 HSE 2.7 diesal-Please Help |
|
Hi Everyone,
I am in desperate need of advice please . I have had my 09 year disco for 3 months now and for past 4 days or so I am having major acceleration issues. When putting my foot down its barely moving and in a inclined road it drops to hardly moving at all.
Fuel consumption is so bad its done about 60 miles on half a tank.
before the problem it was doing about 440 miles on a full tank showing 24.mpg now its showing average of 14. Because its my first discovery I don't even know what to be expecting on regular local traffic and driving.
I had a flat battery a few weeks ago. New battery put in as thought it might be a drained battery. But issues still the same.
I will be most grateful of any advice.

For a 09 Disco you need a CCF update to remove a fault indication when you blank the EGR valve Dave

Well when I brought the car off the dealer they said they had replaced EGR valves. I wonder if they told fibbs.
I've only had it 3 months. Could they have gone again.
It's been looked at by a Independent Land rover guy as we speak. So waiting on what he comes back with.

The said they changed EGR not blanked, but the Indie should be able to read the codes and say for sure if EGR is to blame Dave

Does sound like it could be EGR(s). If confirmed, don't replace - blank them and be done with it.
You'll almost certainly need a software patch to turn off the EML - offered by many sponsors on here or you can do it yourself if you have the right tools.
Or could be sticky turbo actuator? http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic97892-15.html 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Oaky Thank you MikeO. There is no Engine management light on at all.
So will I just need to get them blanked., I'm under a warranty with replacement EGR valves covered.

They will more than likely just fail again if you replace them. Blank them and get rid of them!

They're talking nonsense
They can but when they are blanked you will almost certainly get the EML light come on - the software patch prevents this happening. I had an 09 D3 and had the EGRs blanked (by geoff. - forum sponsor) and then after 18mth of staring at the EML light I applied the patch myself. Mine drove fine with the EML light on - others have reported issues but the patch takes care of all that. Plenty of threads on here about it.
Having said all that, if you have a warranty that will cover the cost of replacement, I'd probably do that now in the knowledge they will probably fail in a year or two. Blank them then. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate
