Mityvac or similar to vacuum engine oil
Just wondering if anyone has used a Mityvac or similar vacuum device to change the oil on their D3. I know it's used on the D4 but wondering if anyone has used one on a D3.
If so, were you able to remove all the 8 quarts of oil?

I have a vacuum tank that I have used on all my cars. I have a home-made extension tube that was made for my wife's mercedes, but it is not quite long enough for the D3.
So on the D3 I tend to vacuum about 3/4 of the sump out, and then drain the remainder through the sump plug.
New gearbox & TC, 3 x front wheel bearings, belts changed, new oil pump, new battery, new rear prop, new front prop, new front diff, front arb refurbed, front cv boot kit, egr blank and BAS software patch, full rear suspension / drivelive rebuild, new front arms, LED trailer light fix, split charge.
Never had a 107, 90 or 127, but have had most of the rest!

Yes, used one on a V8 with no issues.

I tried it. Measured the length of the dipstick for the draintube but could only get 2 quarts out before it was sucking air. I couldn't get the tube to go any further so I drained via the sump plug.

And you were able to get all the (8qt) oil out on your D3? How did you get the drain hose to go all the way in? As stated above, I could only get 2 quarts out.

It's reasonably narrow gauge but the sump is accessible via the dipstick - if you have a suitable tube.
