Front Lower Arm Bushes

So, it's been 366 days and 11k miles since my LR $tealer replaced the lower arms at a cost of £999.

Today, my car failed its MOT on the front lower arm bushes.

However, big up to WD who are covering the cost to replace the ball joints and replace the OEM bushes with SuperPro, all being done by my local indy.

So, another big up to Mark at Cotswold Motoring Services for fitting me in at the last minute and ensuring the car is Pyrenees fit.

Thumbs Up

QQ: Has anyone had a/the OEM front lower arm bush fail within 12 months/11k miles of them being fitted?

Don't they have a warranty with them?

Yes. Two year. Having a little struggle with the dealer about paying excesses though.

Getting the old "we've never had a lower front arm bush on us before" chestnut!!!

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather pay the £100 excess than the £999 quoted they quoted last year to replace them, and the £100 excess rather than the £750 quoted this year. But why should I have to pay it twice????

Are they knocking? Or is it an MOT station looking for work? Confused

The station isn't doing the work, they've just carried out the MoT. I've asked the 'old' ones back. Thumbs Up

What do you mean by excess? Surely if the parts fail within the two years, it's up to them to sort it?

Or are they trying to get you to claim against the warranty you have?

For the works done in 2016 (quoted at £999), Warranty Direct paid and I paid a £100 excess, £50 for the nearside and £50 for the offside.

Warranty Direct are again footing the bill (£750) and again want the two £50 excesses paid. My argument
to the dealer is that I'm looking for them (the dealer) to re-imburse me last year's excess as the parts they supplied and fitted weren't fit for purpose.

I know it's a long shot, but you have to try.

Yeah, sorry what I'm getting at is I though dealer fitted parts had a 2 year parts and labour warranty on it. So they should fully foot the bill, and claim back from LR. Or do I have that wrong?

You are right, but they couldn't do it in a timely manner. From what I was told yesterday, they wanted the car back on Wednesday (tomorrow) and couldn't diagnose until later in the week and then perhaps not complete any works until next week.

Agree. And they will be getting the bushes back, but I'm not expecting much.

If this was my doing, fine, I accept the inconveniences, but it's not. They've not been at all helpful. No offer of a loan car during initial discussions. Just an implication that they'll get to it when they can. Hence the reason for using the local indy.
