It's all your fault!
I have got a bit obsessive over the last four months and as I blame it all on this forum so I thought I’d share!
I’ve always liked the look of the Discovery since the 3 was launched and have had my eye on them for a couple of years. We have had a CMax as our family car and have been very disappointed. I spotted a potential D3 as a replacement quite by chance whilst doing some work in North Wales and had bought it within 24 hrs just before last Christmas.
The car is a D3 TDV6 S 2006 with 95K on the clock in Buckingham Blue. It seemed straight and had some extras: side steps, brand new 22” wheels & tyres, mud flaps, wind deflectors and full leather.
First problem was no phone and the flip down screen was kaput! So I started doing some research and came across this forum. I then promptly fell down a Disco wormhole and have only just come up for breath.
First I fitted the aftermarket LR Bluetooth Kit. Loom and steering wheel switch came from ebay and bluetooth module came from LR dealer. Not a cheap option and a BA to fit but works with High Line head unit well and steering wheel buttons look like factory fit. No phone book or voice recognition but with Siri so good now not sure that’s necessary. Bottom line is I want Mrs C and the boys to be safe.
Anyway this led on to:
• D4 style face lift grill Black/Silver/Grey
• LED lights throughout interior/number plate lights/side lights/full beams/front fogs
• D4 Black surround Valeo rear light clusters & resistors
• Front lights detangoed
• Extended Roof Rails
I have also turned my attention to the infotainment. I bought a factory stye screen for the dash from Ali Express. It took a while to come and I had to pay VAT to customs before they would release it. It has taken me a while to fully fit but it is pretty versatile.
• DVD player fitted in top glove box
• Sat Nav
• AV in and out
• USB & SD inputs
• Ipod connection
• Reversing camera connection
• Dash cam connection
• LR splash and D4 look Home screen
Ive hooked it up to a new xtrons 9” flip down to replace the bust one and linked them with audio and video connectors so either dvd will play on both screens. Its all wired in to the AUX on my Hi Line through the AUX input wires at the back of the head. Fitting the screen did involve cutting out the centre dash cubby which was heart in the mouth job but the result looks like a factory fit so I’m very pleased.
I’ve not had much mechanical to address yet. The brake sensor on the front near side failed so I replaced both front and rear with a new pair sourced from ebay and only £10.99. I managed to fit them without taking the wheels off although it was a bit of a struggle and I have no idea why the tails are so long, surely connectors by the sensor would be sensible.
Anyway this has all cost me a small fortune and I blame it all on disco3.co.uk. That being said this forum is a fantastic resource and while the skin grows back on my knuckles I imagine I will spend most of my evenings lost in your pages.
Future projects may or may not include:
• Body coloured door handles including tailgate
• GPS roof aerial
• Compressor rebuild
Ebay and & Ali Express have been very useful but all thanks and kudos goes to Powerful UK.
Thanks again.

I have considered belts and egr blank. Did you do them yourself? Whats your view on egr blank? Are you happy with the results?

Blanks fitted today. Ordered from EGR Delete for only £15 and came with very easy to follow step by step instructions including photos. Took me 2hrs as the left hand side is a P in the A!! I would recommend removing the plastic box behind the air filter around the brake servo to get at the bottom bolts at EGR valve end. I also removed a bracket holding two cooling pipes so I could move them. The bottom Torx bolt at the top end in the throttle body was the worst part. I had to make a tool with a T30 bit to get access. It's all a straight forward enough job and would take half the time now I know what I know (usual story!).
Took the car for a test drive and it does seem more responsive pulling away. I have reset the trip so I'll have to see what The MPG does over a longer period. No EML (yet) but I'm not expecting one as mine is an 06. Fingers crossed!
I think it's also worth changing the air filter for the sake of £8.99.

Compressor rebuild next. Found this on Amazon which seems good value.
Then remap. Has anyone used Promap Tuning in Deeside? Stage 1 is £220 which seems reasonable, they are close by and they promises the following.
Any thoughts gratefully received.
