2006 (56) 6A Hazard Lights flashing when Ignition off

Hello all,

I have been reading multiple threads on this site and I'm yet to see one which matches my issues exactly! (Please direct me if I'm wrong)

My Disco 3 is showing 'engine malfunction' and on a code reader is coming up with a fault code P140A00
Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor C Circuit Low EGR valve circuit

I am prepared to get my EGR's blanked and being in Dundee, I'm led to believe Disco Mikey is the man. Now I don't think this is related to the following..

When my ignition is off, the hazard warning lights start to flash and the sat nav and radio come on. But, I have since discovered if I press the brake pedal, then this will turn off the hazard lights, sat nav and radio - strange!
When the ignition is on, all is well!

I unplugged the brake switch and all sorts of messages come up, so swiftly plugged it back in.

After reading, I have found the brake switch to be a common fault and possibly non-OEM brake bulbs? Do you reckon this will cure my problem? I can't find anyone else who has the hazard lights flashing and the brake switch problem!

The yellow parking brake icon was on for a very short time, but a quick drive turned that off and it's not come back on - so don't think that's related!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Greg

Also, do you reckon it's worth trying a hard reset by touching the positive and negative together etc?

Forgot to mention I'd already carried out a battery disconnection for around 1 hour. Instantly the hazards flashed again as I connected it! Also forgot to mention the doors lock and unlock when the hazards flash and I can't lock/unlock the car while they still flash (using the key).
I'll give the hard reset a go and have my fingers crossed. Happy to get a brake switch on Monday regardless

Does the car start and run ok?
If No, crash mode might have been operated.
If Yes, could be the switch unit in the dash having a stuck hazard button.

Doubt it's the brake switch tbh.

The car starts and drives great! The hazards aren't on when driving, only when turned off with the key in or out. I can't lock the car when it is flashing. By depressing the brake pedal, this stops the hazards flashing and I can then lock the car. Currently have the pedal jammed down to avoid a flat battery

I've now found an old thread where someone had the same problem. I see Disco_mikey replied saying it's the red wire going to the break switch with a low voltage and to splice into it.

Will have a look at that and hopefully that is it! It's got to be related to the break switch as the hazards go off when the brake pedal is pressed. Only strange this is, is that it doesn't do it when the ignition is on or the car is running!

It does have a sunroof, but couldn't say the carpets are wet. It did rain today and only seemed to start flashing once it got wet..

What would I be looking for?

I'll also have a closer look down there then. Just looking for general corrosion?

Ok, today I go back to the jeep, release the brake pedal and nothing. No hazard warning lights flashing!

So, it only seems to flash when it has rained. Can anyone suggest what this may be?
