2005 TDV6 - starts, idles 4-5 seconds and then dies

Hi everyone, have recently entered Discovery 3 ownership after many fond years with the Discovery 2.

2005 TDV6 Discovery HSE. its starts and idles for 4-5 seconds and then dies.
It has brand new battery, new LP fuel pump, new fuel filter.

When I turn the key to position 2 but don't crank the engine I can hear the fuel pump relay click exactly 6 times. When I put the volt meter on the fuel pump fuse the voltage fluctuates upto 12.5volts every time the relay clicks. It seems the same is happening with the ECU relay which I can hear click also. Its seems like there is something interrupting voltage somewhere.

Any ideas where I should start?

Hi, did you change the fuel pump and filter or was it done previously? Maybe get someone to read your fails codes first? Previous owner could have been chasing a fault?

I changed the pump and filters myself, suspecting this was the issue.
I have a nanocom and it comes up with the following codes.

B1B74 - front foot defrost
B1D12 - volumetric alarm power
B1C57 - Passive start ignition relay coil circuit
B1B02 - low frequency coil
B1A55 - crash record output circuit
U0401 - invalid data received from engine control module
U2023 - control module network signal calibration data
P0087 - fuel rail/system pressure too low
P1136 - control box fan circuit
P0A09 - DC/DC converter fault circuit low

You need to take a reading of the low pressure fuel pump from the schreader valve at the rear of the engine bay, and check what pressure is there.Did you fit an oem filter or after market one?.

P0087 fuel rail/system pressure too low this should give you a clue, if all the above is ok then check your HPFP and the fuel rail sensor, also the Oil temp sensor on the sump has been known to cause this type of fault as well.

Yep plenty of fuel pressure have managed to get it to rev ok but still cuts out after 10 seconds now.
I have tried to clear the numerous faults with the nanocom but it keeps coming up with a fail message when it tries to clear the BCM faults.

It now has 3 permanent faults which I can't clear
B1B02 low frequency coil
B1C57 passive start ignition relay coil circuit
B1A55 crash record output circuit

I can hear the fuel relay click six times and then stops?

ECM reflash with the Nanocom fixed this. Car now runs perfect.

I read on this forum somewhere that when the ECM/fuel pump relays are click 6 times (key in position two) that it is the ECM trying to reboot or reset itself. This explains why the engine would only run for a few seconds when the relays were on/off for the short time.

I reflashed the ECM with the Nanocom (Genisis file) and it started straight away. I suspect it had something to do with the previous owner (i purchased the car not running) the battery wouldn't charge using a plug in charger despite being only 6 mths old. you could tell they had tried to jump start it a few times. Maybe the low voltage tripped something in the ECM.

All good now.

Same issues. If re-flash works this will help me. ECU needs replacing but this is a Big Pill to swallow if I only replaced the Chains between the camshafts in the Cylinder Heads. Do you need SSD to re-flash? Nanocom not available.
