As head of design working for a company in a rapidly growing market sector, with ambitious expansion plans (with a budget to match) and a rapidly growing product range, I'd suggest that it's difficult to not sell more cars under those circumstances.

Now that Ian Callum has been allowed to design an SUV, we shall now have someone with whom we can draw more direct comparisons and the F-Pace is now rapidly outselling everything else that Jaguar build. It'll be interesting to see how sales compare with its Direct equivalent at LR

As purchasers of these products, we have every right to scrutinise the designs and point out if they fall short before, ultimately, voting with our wallets as necessary!

You're right Russell, the throttle certainly is stiffer and that may be part of the issue, but it does need to change down a lot more often despite the gearing being very similar. For instance, driving along flat dual carriageway (a rare thing in Cornwall!) this morning, at around 65-70, if you need to accelerate to get into the right lane, it pauses for a moment....., then changes down and only then will it start to accelerate.

I shall be driving another example on Wednesday, so I'll be able to check if this one isn't right then.

I've checked under the bonnet; there's a surprising amount of fresh air under there but I've removed the acoustic hood and it's definitely a V6. I'd still be interested to know if it's a single or twin turbo though.
