removing tailgate handle
I have bought a replacement tailgate handle as the current switch keeps falling out and is temperamental.
But I can't budge the 4 screws that attach to the edge of the boot lid. Any way without destroying the heads.
Tried plenty of WD40 no luck!!

You can just replace the switch. I bought a Ford one for about a tenner.

I just pulled the switch, chopped the wires as long as possible, and connected them to the new one. Can't remember if I soldered or just used a block. It's been fine for the last 18 months.

OK, got you thanks. a block is the option then as i don't have the soldering iron. I will use the switch on the replacement handle and do as you have suggested.

You may want to get one like this and sell on the handle complete.

Buy replacements then drill out the old ones and use the replacements on the new handle.
Trouble is, the screws only screw into inserts which will turn in the body of the handle. In short, you'll get the handle off but leave the screws and inserts behind if you try undoing them.
Drill 'em, replace 'em. Mods:

Wish I’d read this prior to my reverse cam install lol.. did end up drilling one, a couple of the others ended up spinning in housing. Managed to get it all off, glued the brass bits back into plastic and greased bolts when refitting.
Anyone got part number please for bolts? Thanks.

Id like to second Paulc's request for an ID on tailgate handle bolts. I plan to remove mine to install a reverse camera and it would be nice to have the bits for over the holiday
