I've spoke with BT before and asked if I did just the TC and then needed the whole box done could they reuse the TC..........the answer was no!
I was going to gamble on a TC but if after that I needed the box done it would take it to a nearly £4k job
So I'm holding out to do a full refurb! Whats your mileage Del?

Forgot to update. Said "sod piddling around" to myself as was getting too stressed about it, she's booked in to Auto Gearbox Specialists in Hailsham next week for them to look/sort it. In 7 weeks she'll be in the truly ar$e end of nowhere in Finland so it needs sorted. Will update on how it gets on.

Minor update, she's in with the autobox peeps in Hailsham, hopefully back endish of next week. Going to be an expensive week as also have D4 service then.

Off to Hailsham to pick the old girl up. All done and ready. Just got 2 hours as guest of South West Trains and Southern. The plan was for SWMBO to take me down but we're expecting 2 deliveries "we" don't want to miss. Plus only I get to experience the M25 at rush hour.

Bit like me, box is old & knackered and needed a good refurb. No idea why the Bristol Transmissions TC only lasted sub 18k miles but will ask the question.
The fare to Polegate was only 10p more for a return vs single but no way was I buying a return, that would really put a hex on things!!

I can't wait to hear how different it feels when you get it back
Mine is on the verge of dying, in fact I'm waiting for it to happen any day now
It's been this way for near on 2 years so hopefully it'll transform the D3 when I have it done!
I know I've asked this a couple of times already and you've not answered but I'll try again regardless..........how many miles was it on when you had the TC replaced?!!

Sorry, must have missed that, my head feels like it's full of cotton wool atm. 142k on the box when first changed and had a double flush at 82k.

It was meant with tongue in cheek Del (although I'm sure you know that)
You have every right to feel that way of late.
When I spoke to a few shops they said that with my mileage (187k at that time) they wouldn't consider just doing a TC and it needs to be a re con. They obviously thought your's looked ok when the had it apart.
Make sure you report back after the drive and make me really envious of you!!

The old girl is back home again and all is well with the world. Says he touching wood.
Flaring gone (though not driven her from cold), vibration gone, changes are smooth and lovely, and changing up earlier when getting to top of hills. She deffo has her mojo back and drives the same as New-D. It's the job that should have been done last Jan rather than just a TC, hopefully that's it for the gearbox for the life of the car. Again, touching wood. Should have taken her to the Hailsham peeps back then.

Great news Del, I'm happy for you and old Dee
It's going to make the upcoming road trip all that more enjoyable!
It's made me want to do mine even more now.........it's just the 2.5k bit holding me back

The £2.5k is easy, it's just a case of flashing the plastic & bunging in the PIN. The real pain is next month when the bill comes in. Go on, you know you want to.
If I hadn't had this done I'd be taking the D4 to Finland, which would mean the D3 was superfluous apart from trips to the tip. As is, the D3 is going (it's fully geared up for that) and she's looking forward to it. Saves me £1.50 on a GB plate.
