Can't get into car

My D3 has decided to play a dirty trick on me this morning - the battery's flat.

Everything was perfectly fine yesterday, and I parked and locked it as usual. I can see the lights are on auto, where they always are.

This morning the battery is completely flat (a newish battery, too). I took the cover off the passenger door handle to try and open it with the key, but nothing happens, I suppose being 10 years old and never been used, the key lock is seized. I've squirted some 3 in 1 in the key hole, but other than that what else can I do?

I can't open the bonnet to get to the battery.

If you have a towing socket, one can power up from the permanent live I believe.

If no tow electrics apply power from underneath direct to the starter motor and a suitable chassis ground.

I had the same last week or so I thought. You really have to turn the key hard when I did it I thought it would break the fob. Turns out that blocked sunroof drain tubes caused a leak in my carpets which caused the wiring for locking and unlocking to fail. Once you get into your D3 feel the front carpets.

used my key to test it worked ... as per jjvd21, needed more effort than I expected but worked. Bl**dy cover hasn't sat straight since mind. Might glue it so I don't lose it.

You should always practice and check that your emergency 'get into the car when the battery is flat' key works OK. Thumbs Up

The emergency lock is made of macaroni so very easy to break.

tbh Robbie I was getting ready for the big clockwise turn with 16stone behind it when I realised just in time it was only a click to the right Embarassed

Yes they are but the click is a little pressure and click to the right and big turn clockwise is full 16 stone behind it and keep turning past the click until something gives (Probably the key Embarassed ) Thats what I mean Thumbs Up
