ok ... I'm about 10 weeks into ownership of the replacement for stolen D4 and it's probable that having to stump up an extra £2500 to get this car has put me a bit outside my comfort zone as I'd already spent beyond budget getting that first one.
I'll not go into details but I've got a hearing issue that's variable to say the least, so it might be I'm just a bit better tuned in to the car at the moment BUT I think it's got a sound/vibration that previous one didn't.
There is no way it can be said to be loud or intrusive but it's deffo there and now I've heard it I keep trying to work out what it can be. Obviously only there when car is running and does seem to increase slightly and change frequency when engine speed increases but NOT correlating with engine speed ... i.e. double the revs doesn't make it twice as loud or double the frequency.
Acceleration is strong and smooth, brakes aren't an issue - and I can feel/hear it with car stationary.
Aircon on/off and fan off/on/faster don't seem to be having any effect.
Is it me being paranoid ? .

Best solution would be to drive or be driven in another Discovery. Don't forget to try being driven in yours. I have hearing issues and the driver and passenger ambiance can be different.

could it be the suspension compressor? When you are dead, you do not know you are dead. All of the pain is felt by others. The same thing happens when you are stupid.

Paranoid !!! It's not the noise I would be paranoid about it's whether your car is still going to be parked where you left it! Your signature suggests you need to get out of Manchester lol

I wouldn't say you were paranoid, that noise is probably just the start up sound of the device that MI5 fitted to your car in order to control your thoughts.... The devil will find work for idle hands to do
I stole and I lied, and why? because you asked me to

Or it could have been the aliens, have you been feeling "probed" lately? The devil will find work for idle hands to do

ashamed to say up had to look up "I am a traveller ..." given I sing along (seriously out of tune, mind) around once a week. For some reason i'd started thinking it was Hawkwind.
As for getting out of Manchester ... the two stolen ones went from secure compounds at a dealer on Upper Brook Street (not naming them but i'm sure folks can work it out). Mine ... they used bolt cutters then peeled back the security fence before presumably programming a new key. the other one they started the car then used it to pull open a gate with 3" diameter hydraulic ram. Testimony to strength of the Disco but not good in this case
I've been PM'd by BBDisco3 and he's going to have a listen and see if it's something to worry about.
But then i'll start worrying about getting a 2nd (or is it 3rd ?) opinion. .

Yes offered to listen but what if it sounds the same as mine and I didn't know the sound was there until you point it out - that may mean we will both need to worry
Hope tomorrow's not your singing day

Seats down, loaded to roof. Have to sell the disco to pay next month's card bill ... nearly as bad as the Italy trip.
actually, she had only managed to get 1 (albeit large) carrier bag of stuff. so maybe I will let her go shopping without me again ?
for benefit of anyone other than Brian reading this ... I dropped SWMBO in Manchester whilst I visited him .
