Engine won't start after a filter change |
|
I changed the fuel filter and ran the pump 5 or six times on the 2nd key click until no air was left then tried to crank the engine but it would not turn – (silence). The key fob did come apart so I was using the blade alone.
So I bled the Schrader valve using the same technique but still silence from the starter. I had not touched anything electrical or changed the pipe sequence so I went inside for a cup of tea and returned with the spare key & it started first time, tried the original key and that worked as well.
The only thing I can think is that I pumped out a little Diesel from the old filter to see if there was any water – could this have put it into fault condition. The only other thing was locking & unlocking the car. It now runs perfectly - what did I do ???????

If you were using the blade alone then the car will not start, it needs the transponder built into the key to be near the ignition to communicate with the reader and 'handshake' before it lets the ecu give the go ahead. ........ sort of

Thanks so now I know - next job is to glue both halves of the replacement key fob together to stop it happening again
