Removable tow bar stuck
Hi,
I have a problem with removing the tow bar on my Disco 4. The lock didnt turn at all so i ended up removing it completely with a drill. After that i could turn the green handle BUT, not the whole way. The locking pin still needs another 4-5mm for the hook to come of.
I have tried hammering on the handle and i have soaked the sprint and lock with lubricant but nothing works. Any ideas?

Have you pulled the handle sideways outwards as well as rotating it anticlockwise to release?

Use a hammer and a soft brass drift to knock the retaining pin from the spare wheel side. You can't apply enough torque with the green handle to retract the pin, if it's corroded into position.Richard

lots and lots of WD40 helps the process of knocking it out When you are dead, you do not know you are dead. All of the pain is felt by others. The same thing happens when you are stupid.
And when you've finally got it out, don't leave it in if you're not using it Morris Dancers: Drinkers with A Dance Problem

Had a problem with mine a few years ago, I was too lasy to take it off and when I eventually tried it was stuck solid
Tons of WD40, giant mallet hitting and I lowered the spare to get at the little pin, and tapped that a few times, while trying to move key
Eventually it came out and now it stays inside the Disco, unless needed Iggy/Ieuan
