Reversing when towing
I expected that whilst towing (tow sockets engaged) when you select reverse the audible warning for parking sensors would not sound every time (the case on earlier D4's) but mine does.
Very annoying whilst maneuvering and I need to turn it off manually every time.
Should it behave in this manner? What does yours do?

When I got my used D4 a couple of years ago the dealer fitted the electrics etc for me and I had the same problem.
After returning it 5 of 6 times to the dealer, the rear sensors now no longer sound when a trailer is attached, so you should be able to get it sorted out.Andy

Rear sensors should deactivate when lighting plug is inserted, it may not have been switched on at dealers when towing electrics were installed ( we're the electrics fitted by dealer?).
Also recently I have been moving some fast tow generators and these have LED lights, have found that all the lights were working but the reversing sensors stayed active and the trailer indicator lights did not work on the dash. MY18 RRS Autobiography Fuji White

Yes the towing electrics were fitted by the dealer. I'll give them a buzz.

My dealer had to keep referring to Land Rovers technical department to get it sorted, as I guess fitting towing electrics to a Land Rover was unusual
Interestingly, I now have an IID tool and when I look at the settings they don't match the electrics fitted, but they do at least work properly now.Andy

Mine was new MY15 and had towing fitted by main dealer and it still had to go back in for them to turn on the towing electrics.MY18 RRS Autobiography Fuji White

What are you towing, has it LED lights
I know if I start the engine with the drivers door open and select reverse when towing the Rear Sensors sound off.

As said, either the dealer hasn't enabled the electrics properly or what you are towing has LED lights and therefore there isn't enough resistance for the car to know that the trailer is connected.

Is it because LED lights don't offer enough resistance to register that a trailer board is plugged in?
Edit: Dammit - thats twice tonight. Must learn to type fasterRich

It is an old Bailey Senator 1999 so no leds. I have however replaced the vehicle reverse bulbs with leds from Advanced factors, is that likely to cause issue?

No, it's predominately LED indicators on the trailer that cause the issue. In which case your dealer has up by the sounds of it

The easiest way to see if it's been activated is select reverse gear and touch the screen, you should get the option to zoom in on the hitch. This is taking it for granted you have reverse camera.
My reversing camera was working but none of the Tow assist or hitch guidance was available, 20min in dealers and they said it had been overlooked on PDI quick activation and all was well. MY18 RRS Autobiography Fuji White

That sounds like the solution, I do not think the camera zooms. I think all the 16MY have reverse cameras.
