LR Main dealer woes, please recommend an indi
I'm based in kent (Maidstone) I've a few small issues with my D4 and have also been told it needs a gearbox flush & filter (£865 +VAT ) rear pads (£245 + VAT) and new rear brake hoses ( at this point I told em to poke it )
its always been main dealer serviced and is currently in for the 120k service ( age related not milage ) because its always been covered under warranty BUT I'm getting the with over inflated Main dealer pricing.
Can someone recommend a decent LR Indy in kent to look after a D4, I wouldn't mind so much but half the milage I do in it is for 4x4 response or search and rescue and is voluntary and unpaid!

If you cant do the pads yourself buy the genuine ones if thats what you want and get your local car garage to fit them as they are just standard callipers as fitted to just about every car on the road.
If it needs discs as well thats a little more involved.
Is yours a 6 or 8 speed gearbox?

I can fit pads, I used to build race engines for a living! the point is as I've got older and wiser I can't see the point in taking up a morning of my free time to scrabble about on the drive maintaining a car that cost a lot of money!
what I object to is paying through the nose to be sneered at by snotty receptionists and slimy sales guys who think there gods gift while I wait in a main dealer showroom for 3 hours whilst they do a 20 min job!
The gearbox is a 6 speed and id like to have a flush and filter for piece of mind if nothing else, the cars just done 80k and it would be in my mind wise to act now with some preventitive maintenance but again I'm not paying just shy of a grand for something I can get done elsewhere for a lot less!

£1k will get you a gearbox fluid change and a torque converter! Don't assume a double flush will save you that down the line. Mine had that done at 83k and still needed a TC at 140k.
