Transfer Box Leak - Help

Hello folks,

My first post on here after owning my 2009 disco 3 2.7 TDV6 Auto SE for 8 months or so.

I have a leak on the Transfer box.

I had it up on a 4 post lift the other day and managed to get some photos and been doing some research to try and identify the leak or to confirm it is the gasket leaking.

I checked the megatronics sleeve which is dry along with the rear shaft. I wasn't sure if the front one was weeping or if the leak was coming from above.

I've been meaning to change transfer and ATF for a while now so this will be perfect opportunity to see if there's any left in there!!

Any Help would be much appreciated to identify the leak and how to fix it.

Looks just the same as mine did dripping oil off the torx bolts at the back. It was the front prop shaft seal which resulted in a full transfer box strip and rebuild as the seal is fitted from the inside?
Done on LR extended warranty so no idea of price sorry.

Thanks for the replies chaps.

I had my suspicions that it was the front seal that had gone but it was hard to tell with the amount of damp marks around various joints.

Has anyone got any idea's how to replace the seals and if so is it a fairly straight forward job? Is there any special tooling required?

Does anyone know if it is worth overhauling the Transfer box if you are going in to do seals? I noticed that Advanced Factors do the overhaul kit for the bearings and seals.

Can anyone confirm this is correct and would prevent any future problems with the transfer box?

I used that kit to overhaul a low mileage spare transfer box I have. It's now On my car, no problems. Quite straight forward to do tbh. Need some good quality internal pullers/slide hammer for the small bearing, but all pretty easy.

For everyone's reference. It was diagnosed by a Land Rover specialist garage in Aberdeen free of charge after cleaning it up with brake cleaner and then taking it out for a wee blast as the input shaft seal. (The seal at the front of the transfer box). They've given me a decent quote for removal of box, replace all bearings, seals, both flanges and refitting Thumbs Up
