Had a look at my Sikaflex fix to the centre bearing and, just like my old D3 it looks absolutely fine, with no ill effects on driveline performance or noise.
If the centre bearing is held in the correct position like this, is it likely that there will be any part of the propshaft that 'should' fail? Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Just replaced mine after spotting the torn centre bearing mount, there was no indication of fault when driven either vibration or noise. When removed the UJ's were well and truly notched heavily in both directions so I'm glad to have replaced the shaft as on-going maintenance.

Would the notching have been caused by the out-of-alignment shaft (presumably it's around 1cm out of true with torn centre bush rubber) or just normal wear and tear?
I got the Sikaflex on before there was any poor alignment through torn rubber in the mount.
Interested as to whether I should look at doing a preventative replacement before symptoms or just wait until I eventually notice something amiss? Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

I would say just normal wear and tear, plus of course unless you have had the car from new you will not know what a previous life its had?
Mine has split rubber on the centre bearing and rotational play in the sliding joint again just normal wear and tear, hence replacement ordered.

I used the Sykaflex fix and it worked perfectly. I only bought a GKN prop in the end as the centre bearing was already toast. Series 1 V8

Finally fitted prop today, once old one removed both cvs had rotational play, centre bearing rubber split half way around and the rear u/j had serious notchiness in both planes, pretty poor for only 122k.
Drives smoother and changes gear nicer.
The rear prop flange bolts were amazingly tight.
