perhaps not full-on name and shame but if you say where they are from perhaps some of us would know who to prompt ? (or where their kids go to school).

Thanks for the replies and offers of help. It was a complete set from RS and was about £80 if I remember right. Will try and get in touch again over the weekend and if not then I'll have to look into alternative ways of getting it back.

Your original comment/suggestion are in very poor taste in my opinion and I'm sure many here are of the same opinion. It takes a brave man to go after someone's kids to resolve something they have nothing to do with. Its not the height of the fall but the sudden stop at the bottom that hurts!!
sorry Rescue01, perhaps it loses something in translation but references along the lines of "I know where your kids go to school" are frequent round these parts and I've only ever known them to be humorous comments..

Rescue01 - stop being offended on behalf of others.....
I read it as tongue-in-cheek and the follow-up confirmed that.
So, no, not everybody takes it as 'poor taste'

Even joking is a crime now
I have been burned by lending a tool. On another forum i 'hired' out a bush removal tool for large subframe bushes, which changed a job that would mean removal of the sub-frame to take out and install the bushes ( 1 or 2 days) to literally 2 hours. (BMW 530 touring rear subframe bushes).
I always took a deposit which was substantial but did not cover the cost of the tool and the tool was used by many on the forum the width and breadth of the UK.
There is always one who spoils it for the rest, and after weeks of trying myself and other forum members had to give up.
If i want to borrow, i always ask if they would like a deposit to cover the cost (ala trigger ring installation tool - many thanks again cyrillsneer of this forum).

I didn't know I knew anything from hamlet except the cigars
I know what others mean by the willingness to help others out, and we all become stuck at some point so it's catch 22.
No doubt I'll still help others out though D3 57 xs Stornaway grey
