Next what do you think of this post... sorry!

This has come up for sale very near to where I work.

So it's an exported to Jersey and then re-imported car. This could possibly hide previous accident damage as Cat Status gets removed on export/import. Whilst this is almost certainly not the case it would require a great level of inspection.

It's also on budget new tyres by the look of it, with the MOT history looking a little sketchy with it not ever passing on first attempt. Slightly rings alarm bells with upkeep. Although it maybe nothing to really be concerned about and could just be standard wear and tear.

It might be worth a look as it's not far away, but the history needs to be immaculate, it mentions major service has just been completed, so hope that would mean all the belts etc based on mileage.

Jersey

It can't have been raced or ralllied there.
The only thing that could possibly go wrong is being run a multitude of very short slow journeys.
How long it was there may tell as there is no MOT
& cars tend to get a bit neglected service wise.
If it was registered there it would have to come back through UK customs even if it isn't new.
I did one jersey import. An ex H plate Ford for one of the family.
Easy process if you ask HMRC Dover.
The car was hardly run in.

its a 2007 so check belts and oil pump casing done!

Looks like one arm is needing replaced, use that as a bargaining tool, but nothing else screams run away, how often do most normal drivers check side lights or wipers till they fall apart? Bulbs going frequently may be as simple as using cheap bulbs.

I guess your point on cheap rubber is valid - but maybe owner wanted an MOT pass to flog it - looks tidy from the picture, belts and pump as previous post - good bargaining chip if not done.

My D4 failed on the rear suspension arm pin / rubber last year - cost about £145 to replace ISTR

Thanks for the replies.

Something I've just spotted, it's down as an N1 vehicle type.

Surely it should be M1?

I see there are no side rubbing strips on the doors? Were they not standard on the HSE? I'm not up to speed with the spec at that age.

I've emailed the owner and asked a bit more about the service history. If it sounds ok I'll hopefully view it next week.

I'd be very cautious as if someone doesn't bother checking bulbs ahead of an MOT they'd surely neglect more complex things. Doesn't everyone check all lights pre MOT? Perhaps just me....

You wont believe how common bulb failure is between pre mot check and getting the truck/trailer to the test station which is all of 1 mile away!

Chatted to the owner today. It had the belts done in the last service, a new turbo in the past 8 months, D4 alternator and a reconditioned air suspension compressor.

He doesn't think it's had the oil pump housing done though, however he's give me the name of the specialist in Plymouth he uses to service the car and I'll give them a call on Monday. Off to see it on Tuesday evening.
